Exploring the NADA Acupuncture Protocol: Efficacy and Applications

Acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medicine practice, has gained widespread recognition for its therapeutic benefits in treating various health conditions. One particular acupuncture protocol, known as the NADA protocol, has garnered attention for its efficacy in addressing issues such as addiction, stress, and emotional imbalances. In this article, we will delve into the NADA acupuncture protocol, its components, and its effectiveness in clinical settings.

Understanding the NADA Protocol

The NADA protocol, also referred to as the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association protocol, was developed in the 1970s by Dr. Michael Smith, a physician working in the South Bronx of New York City. This protocol is a standardized auricular acupuncture treatment that involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the outer ear.

The NADA protocol typically involves the insertion of five needles into specific ear points: the sympathetic point, shen men, liver, lung, and kidney points. These points are believed to correspond to various organs and systems in the body according to traditional Chinese medicine theory.

Applications of the NADA Protocol

1. **Stress and Anxiety:** The NADA protocol is also utilized to address stress, anxiety, and emotional imbalances. By stimulating specific ear points, the protocol is thought to promote relaxation, balance the nervous system, and improve mood. This makes it beneficial for individuals dealing with chronic stress, anxiety disorders, and mood-related issues.

2. **Addiction Recovery:** One of the primary applications of the NADA protocol is in addiction recovery programs. It has been used as an adjunct therapy to support individuals undergoing substance abuse treatment, including alcohol, nicotine, and drug addiction. The protocol is believed to help reduce cravings, alleviate withdrawal symptoms, and support overall emotional well-being during the recovery process.

3. **Trauma and PTSD:** Another area where the NADA protocol has shown promise is in the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Acupuncture, including auricular acupuncture, is believed to help regulate the body's stress response and support emotional healing. Integrating the NADA protocol into trauma-informed care approaches has been a subject of interest in mental health settings

FREE Monthly Community Grief Gathering for April-Share hobbies that help you with Grief!

The 2nd Tuesday of each month we invite the Community to come to our FREE Monthly Grief Gatherings from 6-7pm at our office 7071 Convoy Court Suite 101, San Diego, CA 92111 and join Rebekah Finn our Bereavement and Volunteer Coordinator for various ways to navigate your way through grief. This invitation is open to anyone in the Community whether your loved one was on our service or not. We strive to create a safe, sacred space to be seen, heard and validated as you navigate your way through grief. We acknowledge that grief is unique to the individual and encourage all who attend to show up just as you are. *Note it isn’t a requirement to bring your ideas and share on the specific topics each month. You are welcome to come as you are sharing your grief story with the group and participation is not required. We also welcome and provide space for participants to just be with their grief in community without sharing.  All grief is welcome. Our goal is to create a safe and confidential container for all who join.

Here is a snapshot of our 6 month topics so you can Save the Dates on your calendar and plan ahead if certain topics spark your interest.

Each participant will be allocated a specific amount of time to share whatever they want with the group. Our basic agreements for our gatherings are based off Frances Weller's Book The Wild Edge of Sorrow  1. No advice given.  2. Practice saying we hear you, or a simple Thank you after some shares. Remember grief is not a problem to be solved but an experience to be witnessed. 3. Deep listening to what the person is sharing. 3. No interrupting. 4. Allow space and breath after someone speaks. 5. Confidentiality, it is important that what is shared in the circle will be held in the circle. 6. Practice revelatory speech-this is a speech that reveals who you are, not how someone should be.

Lastly, this space is centered on providing comfort and understanding to one another. For this reason we ask that you please refrain from promoting personal services or other grief support groups during our sessions. If you have resources or services to share, kindly reach out directly to Rebekah Finn. RSVP to her via Text to 858.833.0546 or via email rfinn@topkare.com.

FREE Monthly Community Grief Gathering for February- Share how you express your Grief!

Acupuncture, including auricular acupuncture, is believed to help regulate the body's stress response and support emotional healing. Integrating the NADA protocol into trauma-informed care approaches has been a subject of interest in mental health settings

FREE Monthly Community Grief Gathering for December-Share your go to grief comfort food!

We invite the Community to come to our FREE Monthly Grief Gatherings on Tuesday December 3rd from 6-7pm at our office 7071 Convoy Court Suite 101, San Diego, CA 92111 and join Rebekah Finn our Bereavement and Volunteer Coordinator for various ways to navigate your way through grief.

Feel free to bring your own grief comfort food to share, a recipe or discuss your go to grief comfort food that helps you navigate your grief. You are open to share, listen or discuss with our community. We believe there is no right or wrong way to grieve as it’s unique to the infd
